1. Charging the Clipper
The Kemei KM-1990 hair clipper is rechargeable and can be used cordlessly. Before first use, or when the battery indicator on the LCD display shows low charge, fully charge the device.
- Connect the charging cable to the clipper and a suitable power adapter (AC 110-240V, 50-60Hz).
- The LCD display will show the charging progress.
- A full charge takes approximately 3 hours. The clipper can work for about 120 minutes after a full charge.
2. Blade Alignment (Factory Set)
Your shears are carefully inspected to ensure that the blades are oiled and aligned before they leave the factory. If the blades are removed for cleaning or replacement, they must be re-aligned. To re-align:
- Simply match the top and bottom blade teeth point to point upwards.
- The ends of the top blade teeth should be approximately 0.5-1.0mm back from the bottom blade.
- Compare your scissor blades with the provided sketch (if available).
- If the blades are not aligned correctly, put a few drops of oil on the blades, turn the shears open for a while, close, and unplug them.
- Loosen the screw slightly and make adjustments until the blades are aligned, then tighten the screw.

Select the desired guide comb for your preferred cutting length. The clipper comes with various sizes, including 1.5mm, 3mm, 4.5mm, 6mm, 10mm, 13mm, 19mm, and 25mm.

- Always start with a longer guide comb than you think you need, and gradually reduce the length.
- Hold the clipper flat against the head and move it slowly against the direction of hair growth.
- For detailed work or fading, use the clipper without a guide comb, adjusting the blade lever for precise cutting lengths (1.1mm - 2mm minimum cutting length).
- The clipper features automatic power selection based on bristle density, ensuring consistent performance.
