Uppsetning

  1. Prepare the Tray: Place the 18 plastic playing pieces randomly onto the yellow plastic tray. Ensure they are spread out and clearly visible.
  2. Prepare Game Cards: Shuffle the 50 game cards and place them face down in a stack within easy reach of all players.
  3. Scoresheets and Timer: Distribute scoresheets to each player or team. Keep the timer accessible.
  4. Designate a Gamemaster: One player will act as the Gamemaster for the round. This player will manage the timer, read questions, and verify answers.

Hvernig á að spila

The Tray Game offers two main modes of play, allowing for varied challenges and replayability. You can also use your own household items for extended play.

Game Mode 1: Memory Challenge

  1. Observe the Tray: The Gamemaster presents the tray with all 18 pieces. Players have a limited time (e.g., 30-60 seconds, using the hourglass timer) to observe and memorize the items, their positions, colors, and any other details.
  2. Cover the Tray: Once the time is up, the Gamemaster covers the tray with the plastic lid, hiding all the items from view.
  3. Draw a Card: The Gamemaster draws a game card from the shuffled stack and reads the question aloud. Questions can vary, such as "How many red things were there?", "What was the nearest item to the ring?", or "Name an object that began with the letter 'C'?"
  4. Write Your Answer: Players secretly write down their answers on their scoresheets.
  5. Reveal and Score: After all players have written their answers, the Gamemaster reveals the tray (if necessary to verify answers) and announces the correct answer. Players score points based on the card's instructions (e.g., 1 point for a correct answer, 2 points for a more challenging question).
  6. Halda áfram að spila: The game continues for a set number of rounds or until all cards are used. The player with the highest score wins.

Game Mode 2: What's Missing?

  1. Observe the Tray: As in Game Mode 1, players observe the tray for a set amount of time.
  2. Gamemaster Removes Item: The Gamemaster then covers the tray, secretly removes one or more items, and then re-covers the tray.
  3. Guess What's Missing: Players then try to guess which item(s) the Gamemaster removed.
  4. Reveal and Score: The Gamemaster reveals the tray and the removed item(s). Players who correctly identify the missing item(s) score points.
